Tour 4: A tranquil trip to Vörden
On this cosy tour you get a closer look at the landscape and nearby towns. It is the right tour to warm up and get used to bicycling, for in between, if you feel a little out of shape or have little time, or if you want to take a longer break.
The stops:
■ Neuenkirchen
Not to be confused with the other Neuenkirchen that is just a few kilometres southwest of the Alfsee. You can see the church tower of this rural place from far away. Make sure not to miss the antiques café "Haus Chagall" on the eastern edge of town.
■ Vörden
Vörden is outside the Osnabrück region just like Neuenkirchen. Together, the two towns form one municipality. The place was mentioned in documents for the first time in 1341. The carefully restored village centre, the so-called Burghof (castle yard) around Kleiner Hinterstraße, is worth seeing. Tours can be booked on Sundays and we will be happy to arrange something for you.
■ Café Bauerndiele
On the return trip, you can stop off here and treat yourself to some home baked cake or crispy bread in the café or on the terrace. The antique rustic furnishings were put together with great attention to detail.
You can stop herd in the afternoon from Wednesday to Saturday. Bigger groups may also schedule separate appointments outside these hours.

■ Café "Rhodes-Heuerhaus"
The lovingly restored Heuerhaus dating back to 1672 with its splendid and typical cottage garden is another destination of the tour through the garden empire around Alfsee. Rest in the shadow of old oaks, admire the pavilion that is entwined with pink roses, or learn more about the artful pruning of yews and box trees.
